Facebook 360 for Gear VR Introduced, the Social Network’s First Dedicated VR App

On 8th March 2017, Facebook introduced Facebook 360 for Gear VR, its dedicated VR app for helping users find and enjoy 360-degree images and videos. Nevertheless, one caveat which comes with the launch is that the app is presently only available for the Oculus-powered Gear VR headset of Samsung. It must be noted that the app does not let you browse via your normal News Feed from Facebook but offers 4 different sections for helping you browse via the 360-degree content available on the social network.

Presently, the Facebook 360 for Gear VR app features 4 different feeds – Explore, Following, Saved, and Timeline. The Explore feed helps users browse via some of the popular content available on the social media while the Following feed presents the 360-degree content posted by the pages or their friends that they are following. The Saved feed is for the 360-degree content which the users have saved themselves for later viewing and ultimately the Timeline feed enables users browsing via the 360-degree content posted by themselves on their Timeline.

For downloading the Facebook 360 for Gear VR app, users can open the Oculus app on their Gear VR-compatible Samsung device and search for Facebook 360. They can also select for visiting the Oculus site for getting started and downloading the app.
