On Thursday, State-run telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has unveiled to launch its mobile wallet in partnership with digital payment company MobiKwik to enable one-tap bill payment for its over 100 million users.
While, the company did not yet issue any specific timeline for the app launch but reports that “this mobile wallet app will be developed, operated & issued by MobiKwik & will be distributed and marketed by BSNL.
This wallet will allow the users to pay for online recharges, shop and book bus & train tickets, make bill payments, pay for their daily purchases & much more features.
The mobile wallet app, developed by MobiKwik for BSNL, is in line with the telecom corporation’s goal to outreach the digital payments to semi-urban and rural India, a BSNL statement said.
It will ensure the ease of payment to its customers while equally strengthening the finacial compostion in the rural areas which usually get neglected, said by Manoj Sinha, telecom minister.
The collaboration of brands in the app will assure that all its 100 million users are able to ‘seamlessly and efficiently make all transactions and make mobile & other financial payments through wallet’, which will work on both smartphones & feature phones, said BSNL chairman, Anupam Srivastva.
BSNL claimed that with over 1.5 million merchants on the network, this is going to be India’s largest mobile wallet app by any telecom company.
The association with BSNL will “empower masses in India with the access to reliable internet connectivity & digital payments”, said Bipin Preet Singh, founder and CEO of MobiKwik.
